What a great year!
Village Montessori is having a great first year! Children are learning, playing and creating throughout the day. Our classroom is sometimes quiet, and sometimes full of laughter. Students are hard at work on their lessons, and their teachers are busy planning for the summer. Everyone is excited about the new garden and growing food and flowers for our summer feast. So far this year we have learned about Chinese New Year, Monet, the solar system and listened to music ranging from Mozart to Flatt & Scruggs. We have practiced our ballet moves and our yoga, and our kindness chain grows every day.
If you would like to see our school, or learn more about our program, please just call us and we will arrange a time for a visit.
At right is our Directress, Ms. Linda DeRosett with her 7 year old daughter Lily. Lily is a Montessori child who now attends Maxwell Elementary, and she was the inspiration for Ms. DeRosett's career in Montessori. Before returning to her hometown of Lexington, Ms. DeRosett had a variety of jobs involving experiential education, including stints designing exhibits and education programs at the Orlando Science Center, and ten years at the Walt Disney Company where she was the Education Curator for Disney's Animal Kingdom.
